Lucky Cats Fred and Daphne Have Upper Respiratory and Eye Infections!

Fred and Daphne, two of our sweet Lucky Cats, arrived in Northern Virginia about three weeks ago. At first, they were happy and healthy; however, soon after their transport from North Carolina, they developed Upper Respiratory Infections (URIs). Antibiotics are typically effective at treating URIs quickly. But, these Lucky Cats have had a rough transition and have also developed severe eye infections - some of the worst our vet had seen in kittens. Poor Fred & Daphne have been through numerous vet appointments, tests, and are given eye drops every two hours. Initially, the vet was concerned that they may need eye surgery, or even lose their eyes. Thank goodness they got the care they needed in time, as they have greatly improved, and we do not think they will need surgery! Their emergency care has cost Lucky Dog a lot! Please consider donating to help us cover these costs, so we can continue to help Lucky Cats and Dogs in need of critical care!

A Note from Aden

Hi Everyone! This is Aden writing from my foster home. I am home from SouthPaws and recuperating on my foster parent’s bed. I'm watching a lot of TV and taking it easy. I had my stitches taken out last Friday, and I am continuing to heal. I have an impressive seven inch scar on my left side. I think the ladies would dig it, but my fur will probably cover it up once it grows back. Thanks to Lucky Dog for their generosity and kindness. I am truly a very lucky dog!

Help other dogs like Aden by coming to Lucky Dog's Annual Spay Day Fundraiser on Wednesday, February 23rd from 6PM - 9PM at Rocket Bar (714 7th St, NW, Washington, DC)!

Trixie update

Trixie, our tall and sweet lab mix is recovering nicely in her foster's home. Trixie was in pain after the surgery and laid low for a few days... But watch out cuz she is feeling better now. She has a way to go before tolerating weight on her leg but she will do her exercises (or anything for that matter) for a piece of cheese. Her follow appt with the surgeon is tomorrow and she goes for her canine rehab appt early next week.

All the pups are home with their foster!

Fighters they are!
The D pups are improving and are all in their fosters home. With continued TLC and love (and meds of course!).

Update on the D pups!

These guys are fighting a battle that is hard for any little one to fight. They have wonderful care, are taking their meds and despite protests, they are being kept from chewing their IV's! Let's keep our thoughts with these babies! Dalayla has already improved and showing all of her siblings how to do it!

Aden had a good first night

The vets are very happy with Aden's progress. The chest tube is out and he even ate a little for his foster mom when she visited. If all continues to improve, he can go home tomorrow!

Great News on Delanya!!

Delanya is doing really well! The hospital says she can go home TOMORROW!!!! She is starting to act like a spunky puppy.
